The Journey

One year of growth, learning, and serving with care — and the best is yet to come! 🎉

One year ago, something small that started as a way to make ends meet slowly turned into something much bigger.

In 2024, I began cleaning homes, doing yard work, and providing childcare while applying and waiting for work. At the time it wasn’t an official business. I simply called it Helping Hand and offered support to anyone who reached out.

Very quickly I realized that most of the people asking for help were elderly, disabled, chronically ill, or going through life challenges. I started by using whatever cleaning supplies people already had in their homes, slowly buying inexpensive tools and products whenever I could afford them.

After almost a year of doing side gigs, I started thinking about creating something more intentional — a business that served the populations who needed help the most. With my background working in social work, and my life experiences; I knew I could bring a trauma-informed, empathetic, and non-judgmental approach into people’s homes.

After about 24 hours of brainstorming names (because there are a lot of “Helping Hands” out there), I wanted something that truly reflected the care and approach behind the work.

That’s how In Gentle Hands was born.

In March 2025, I officially registered In Gentle Hands with the State of New Mexico, and on March 18, 2025, it was approved. Within 24 hours of deciding to make it real, I created the email, website, and filed the registration.

Over this past year, little by little, I’ve invested in the tools and supplies needed to grow. Today I bring my own equipment to every clean — including floor steamers, handheld steamers, pet wet/dry vacuums, and more. The business is now registered, insured, and bonded. I’ve invested in uniforms, branding, business cards, fixing the car that gets me to my clients, and all the little things that come with building something from the ground up.

None of this would have been possible without the people who trusted me.

A huge thank you to my six current recurring clients — one who has been with me the entire year, and two for more than half of it — and to the 137 people who booked services throughout the year, whether once or multiple times.

I’m also incredibly grateful to members of the community who donated supplies or contributed so that I could continue offering free cleans to those in need. If you would like to contribute in anyway I'll provide the Amazon and venmo link below.

As the year has gone on, not only has the way I clean evolved, but the business itself has grown too — refining policies, pricing, services, and the website. I plan to continue learning, improving, and expanding.

Right now, In Gentle Hands offers:

• 1–2 free decluttering cleans each month
• Bi-weekly and monthly deep cleans
• Project deep cleans
• Biohazard cleans (the most requested service)
• And many other home support services

If it’s been a while, I invite you to check out the website and see how things have evolved: Ingentlehands.org.

As I continue to grow In Gentle Hands, I’m also dreaming bigger. In the future, I hope to expand the work beyond cleaning by offering trainings for mental health professionals, creating support guides for maintaining a home after a reset, and even training others how to clean with a trauma-informed approach when entering people’s homes and personal spaces. Because this work is about more than cleaning — it’s about dignity, safety, and meeting people where they are. Gotta dream big!!

Thank you for trusting me with your homes, pets or children. It has truly been an honor to serve you, and I’m excited to see what’s on the horizon for In Gentle Hands.
